18.05.10Ultimate Packaging honoured with Business Excellence award
Ultimate Packaging has received a special award for Business Excellence at the Northern Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
Ultimate Packaging is one of the UKs leading independent flexographic print suppliers to the food industry. The company prints flexible packaging for every major supermarket in the UK and also supplies major brands, such as Grimsby-based Youngs Seafood and Hull-based frozen food company Aunt Bessies.
The awards, held at the Grimsby Auditorium, recognised businesses from around Lincolnshire and Humberside for their remarkable performances over the last year through one of the toughest ever periods of economic uncertainty. Ultimate Packagings accolade came after judges found the firms impressive investment in new technology to advance the food industrys packaging capabilities worthy of more than the Innovation Award the family-owned business had applied for.
Managing director Nigel Tonge, with brothers Chris, Sales and Marketing Director and Michael, Commercial Director have together with an expanded management team overseen an 18-million investment programme for the firm, which was established in 1982. Its turnover has risen from 9million to 34million, and the company now employs 230 people.
Nigel Tonge said: We are delighted to receive this award, its fantastic news for the company and for all the people we employ. This award is on behalf of all the staff. We are very honoured.
Of the investment, he said: We have increased our capacity so we can make sure everything is produced in house to the same exacting quality our clients require, so it is working very well and the customers are very pleased with what we have done.
Last month, Ultimate Packaging also scooped two industry awards at a European Flexographic Technical Association (EFTA) event taking the Gold award for Best First Time Entrant for a project undertaken for Youngs Seafood and the Silver for excellence in Promotional Print.
